My sincere condolences to Russell's family. I was fortunate to work with Russell in the High Arctic out of Resolute Bay and in Frobisher Bay (now called Iqaluit). What a great pilot he was and a terrific person. He was very well liked by all. Rest well Russell.

My condolences to the family. My first Arctic tour, I was crewed with Russ on Bell Canada's CF-YFT. One of the first trips I did was a night time run into George River, landing on the ice, lit up by snowmobile lights. I wondered what I had got myself into. I did more tours with Russ in 1979 where we found and established the LOREX 1979 ice camp, and then returning for almost a month staging out of Alert where we actually stayed on the ice almost the duration of the tour. We did have to evacuate the camp at about 3:00 in the morning when the ice started to break up, and for the aircraft safety, returned to Alert for a few days. After the wind settled down and the ice re-froze, we returned to complete the tour. Fond memories.

A good heart, a good soul has left our midst and is journeying onward. I sure admire his work and challenges during the years I knew him at Relolute and Iqaluit. Russ was known far and wide by his steady hand at the controls. God bless

Sincere condolences to you Yvonne and all.
